DECA is an association of students, teachers, and administrators. DECA’s objective is to support the development of marketing and management skills in career areas such as hospitality, finance, sales and service, business administration and entrepreneurship. Programs and activities are tailored to the specific career interest of students and include technical skills, basic scholastic and communication skills, human relations and employability skills, and a strong emphasis on economics and free enterprise.
The DECA competitions include students from the US, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico, Germany and Mexico. The students from Innisdale (the first DECA club in Barrie) have participated in many competitions and have performed exemplary. Our Club supports their endeavours with sponsorships of up to $2,000 to offset travel and lodging costs for the competing students. The DECA students in return, help the Rotary Club wherever they can; last year they helped at the Fun Run and raised $500 for our club.
