Butterfly Pavilion

The Fort Willow Improvement Group and the NVCA upon observing the large number of monarch butterflies in the immediate area of Fort Willow led to research of these and the plight they are currently facing. They migrate between Mexico and Canada each year but with pollution and the designation of the milkweed as a noxious weed, their existence is being threatened.

The groups above proposed the building of a shelter on the Fort Willow site which incorporates interpretive panels to provide information on the Fauna and Flora of the site, with special emphasis on the monarch butterfly.

The Environmental Committee stepped up to the challenge and contributed materials and manpower to make a butterfly pavilion a reality.  This pavilion is located at Fort Willow.
