Kidd's Creek

Once restricted to underground culverts at the base of Toronto Street in Barrie,  Kidd’s Creek has been restored to an
open stream channel that provides habitat and spawning grounds for warm water fish species such as pumpkin seed, perch, bass and pike. The new stream and parkland will improve water and air quality, allow for cooler water to drain into Lake Simcoe, provide better flood controls for the City, and establish a natural corridor that links Heritage Park with Centennial Park. Restoring 300 metres of stream channel provides environmental value, in that it will return the creek to a more-natural, open state.

The Rotary Club of Barrie Environmental Committee committed $5,000 toward the Kidd’s Creek restoration project along Barrie’s waterfront.

“The Rotary Club of Barrie’s support for the local environment is outstanding,” said Kimberley MacKenzie, executive director of the Lake Simcoe Conservation Foundation.
