Archaelogical Digs

Barrie’s St. Joseph’s High School has been involved with an on-going archaeology dig at Fort Willow as part of their curriculum. A significant variety of items have been discovered that links the history of Simcoe County with today’s students. There have been a great many ideas for the dig that go beyond the limited budget provided by the school. The school covers the cost of bussing and the salary for the site assistant.

Our Environmental Committee fully endorses the project and is a willing partner both financially as well as ‘hands on’ at the ‘dig’. This clearly fulfills one of our goals of supporting the youth in academic programs in our community,  xploring the history of the area in which we live.
