With the support and direction of Rotarian Charlie Wilson, more than 400 trees have been planted in the City of Barrie to enhance the landscape and provide an effect on the environment.
Locations include both sides of Lakeshore Drive, Lakeshore meridians, parking lot screening at Johnson Street, Nelson Lookout, Hickling Park, Willoughby Park, South Shore Centre, as well as the Trans-Canada Trail in Sunnidale Park.
The tree selections are large varieties (each 12-20 feet in height), deciduous and evergreen in nature. They include Maples, Bradford Pears,Spruce Pine and Red Oaks.
The average expenditure on trees is $5,000.00 annually.
